Nancy Schmeister – Ryan’s Mom
Tom helped our son Ryan find a real appreciation for music. At Ryan’s first lesson with Tom, he had him playing The Beatles “Let It Be”, because that is what Ryan loved in music at that time. Now Ryan comes home, proud to share a common passion for heavy metal with my husband and anxious to bring his guitar to the next lesson to learn the beginning of a song that only he and my husband can appreciate. Tom found the perfect approach to encourage and teach Ryan piano (plus a little guitar). I believe that the music theory being taught by Tom will have a lasting impact on our son’s music abilities. He is learning things we had to take a music theory college course to learn, but that are fundamental to really understanding how music works. First and foremost, Tom has always made Ryan feel capable and respected. There is nothing more important in a teacher than that. Thanks Tom and Jenny. We wish you lots of luck at your new location.

I (we) have been thoroughly impressed with the lessons and Tom’s ability to work with and teach kids. We look forward to having them start up again in the Fall. Both of them have learned quite a bit of theory and actual playing on the piano/drums in a few short months. They totally enjoyed the lessons and it was among the favorite, if not the favorite, activity of everything they do.

I am the Nana-sitter for the boys and attend the lessons when Sharon works. The boys eagerly look forward to their lessons, and have learned not only the actual music but how to jam on their own with others. It is a fun place where learning takes place at a steady pace with no pressure. Tom is an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher! I enjoy my times there and look forward to the new location and changes Tom envisions.

Tara Lee – Jaxon’s Mom
My son, Jaxon, started private keyboard lessons with Tom this past September. This very enjoyable, fun experience always has Jaxon wanting to return weekly. I believe it is attributed to Tom and his amazing talent for having children listen to him, and in turn, be willing to perform for him. Also, I appreciate how Tom takes the time to recognize when to change things up - to keep the interest going, especially with young learners. For example, he will get Jaxon to play the drums to learn rhythm, and he’ll play the piano, turning the end of the lesson into a very fun show stopper! We all leave the lesson with smiles on our face(s).
On a special note, Tom will take the time to recognize my 4 year old daughter’s interest in music, and will allow her to have a quick session on the drums, or he’ll just take the time to talk to her. She can’t wait to start this fall!

The kids absolutely loved their lessons and really thought Tom was a VERY cool guy. He made the lessons fun and they were truly motivated to learn. The only reason we ended our lessons was because we moved out of town, we will sadly have to find a new place and I am sure it will not compare to the lessons they received at The Music Room. I am so amazed at my boy’s interest in music since they started learning at The Music Room. They have taken music lessons before, but they never really took to it. Now, they practice all the time and count down the days until their next lesson. They begged me after the first lesson to sign them up for another 8 weeks. I would recommend you guys to anyone!
