Mixing at The Music Room
Once you have recorded your project at the studio of your choice the next vital step is
ensuring your project is mixed by a professional engineer. Only a professional can take your individually recorded instruments and fit them in between your speakers to make your ears tingle in delight. The Music Room offers professional mixing services at affordable rates, so no matter where you tracked your music we can take it to the next level!
The Process of Mixing
Once you have your songs recorded in the D.A.W of your choice. (E.g. ProTools, Logic, Cubase). The next step is mixing! This is one of the most important steps of your album. Each instrument has certain frequencies they sound best at, and at the same time fight with others to get on top of the mix. Using compression, equalization, reverb and automation to achieve the dynamics and depth to mold the instruments into a polished mix for you to send to mastering. We mix everything through our console with top of the line converters. By summing your mixes through a big console, you get a bigger and heavier hitting mix.

Sending us Your Files
We are avid Pro Tools users here at The Music Room, however we understand that there are many types of available software out there. As a result, there are two different situations that can occure when sending us your sessions to be mixed.
- If your session is in Pro Tools, you can simply send us the sessions as is. Make sure the songs and tracks are clearly labeled to make our job easier.
- If you’re not using Pro Tools, please consolidate all your audio files for each song and clearly label each one. This means making all the individual regions or WAV files the same length. All the multi-track files should start and end at the same time. This way, we can import them into Pro Tools quickly and easily without trying to place loose files for a project that we didn’t track (and subsequently will not know where each track is meant to start and end).
24-bit files are preferred at the highest sample rate you have recorded at. Be sure to include any notes or ideas that you want included in the mix or simply give us a call to discuss your project.
Files can be uploaded via our File Transfer server. Please contact Dan to arrange uploading at dan@music-room.ca or call 604.223.4006.
